How OurDisk works
OurDisk™ can be used in a wide variety of ways, depending on your industry and style of business. Some businesses use it as the central file storage for the business – i.e. all staff, clients and third parties use it to share documentation.
Some businesses use it simply as a cheap off-site backup. Some use it to transfer sensitive documents. And, some people use it to send large files.
It can be tailored to suit your business.
What happens to my files?
When you upload a file to OurDisk™, it is first encrypted with 2048bit encryption for absolute security and then, if it is a text-based document, it’s scanned so you can easily find it later with a full text search. Files are stored and sent in an encrypted state.
To edit a document you simply download it, edit it with Word, Excel or what ever program is appropriate and then upload it to OurDisk to share. You can rename, add comments and add other metadata to collaborate with others.
OurDisk records every action for every file, user and group.
Your documents are stored on a secure cloud across a number of data centers. The main advantage with cloud computing is availability. Should one data center be struck by a meteorite, for example, your documents are still safe and completely accessible from one of our other high-performance data centers with no loss of speed.
Documents will remain on the server until you trash them. This acts like the recycle bin on your desktop. Trashed files will not be completely deleted until an administrator deletes them from trash – just in case.
